As explained in lesson #6, adult webmasters meet online constantly. They chat in mIRC chatrooms, post on message boards and instant message each other all over the world. Knowing your peers is your key to truly knowing this business.

How do you find these cyber boardrooms and virtual cocktail parties? Where are they? Do you have to have a decoder ring to get in the door? The right place to meet other adult online professionals is waiting for you. With this lesson and a little research, you will soon be networking with your new industry.

I. Search Engines

Go to a favorite search engine or directory. Type in the keywords “adult webmaster board”. You will get a page of results that will steer you to several of the top discussion areas the adult online industry has to offer. Stay away from links that have phrases such as “hot, nasty, or explicit” in their descriptions. While you have to be a legal adult to post in an adult webmaster message board, you aren’t looking for hot sex chat. Well maybe you are, but you find very little of it in an adult webmaster discussion area.

II. Adult Webmaster Resource Sites

These places are invaluable to the adult webmaster. Not only do they have tools, software and links to vital industry success, they all have a discussion area. Some have a BBS. Some have live chat. Here are the different types of ways to discuss business with out adult webmasters:

Message Board
A Message Board is the simplest from of web discussion. You type in a message, click the submit button and in seconds, your text appears on the page at the top or bottom of all the previous messages. It’s a little hard on the eyes but this from of discussion is used by some of the oldest and largest resource sites in adult Internet.

BBS
An upgraded version of the Message Board, a Bulletin Board System (BBS) is an easier-to-read version of delayed messaging technology. Messages are laid out on the page, categorized by topic and amount of replies. You can browse the different topics (subject) and read or respond to exactly your interests.

Live Chat and Instant Messaging
Some adult webmaster resource sites offer real-time chat. Most times, they use IRC (Internet Relay Chat) through Usenet type servers. A popular program to chat this way is mIRC and can be downloaded easily. The other way to chat in real time is to chat with instant messaging software. When you get to know other webmasters, you will find that chatting with them instantly gets you answers you’d never see in a public forum. Several instant messaging programs are free but ICQ is the most popular IM among adult webmasters.

III. Sponsor Resource Sites

Most adult sponsor programs have small resource pages a lot like the bigger ones. They usually have chat areas too. You can get program-specific answers from these places because you will be inquiring directly from the source.

Finding a message board is easy. Finding one you like is where work and time come into play. Always read the existing messages and topics in a discussion area before you post anything. Always assess your surroundings. Get to know who you want to deal with before you deal.
